How does Private GP work?

This is something that all insurers carry these days and it comes as a free addition to your plan.

With the video GP, you can have appointments at a time to suit you, including outside of normal surgery hours. The service is not AI powered, so you'd be having a video consultation with a qualified GP who can authorise prescriptions but also give you referrals to specialists or physiotherapists for further investigation or treatment, if required.

This is a very user friendly service as you do not need pre-authorisation from the insurer and the excess does not apply if your plan normally carries an excess charge. 

This is something that some insurers have started offering across the market but it does usually incur an increase in your premium.

Although this can be a very helpful service, private GP surgeries are often few and far between outside of the major cities and you usually need to be using a surgery that is partnered with your insurer. This is an area we will provide advice on because it's important to weigh up the cost of including this against the useability and locality of a partnered GP surgery.
